Where fish tip their scales
28 March, 2008

D-don’t let them t-try to catch me
Don’t let the f-footsteps follow
Me

I have to r-run on into the d-dying night that lies before me
And f-fall into an endless d-drop where the light comes down
Endlessly

I have seen i-it all
S-spread out like a green, g-green ocean where fish t-tip their scales into beams of light
In your eyes

When I try to t-touch you
It is n-not the end of the w-world
But you know that already

I only want a f-fleeting brush against your perfect, p-perfect skin
It sh-shines, you know, brigtl-ly in my cold eyes
Glowing

There is a p-pattern lying across it all
Green and gold, dark and d-deep, filling up a c-careless, unb-broken soul
Forever

D-don’t let them try to f-follow
I have f-fallen into the cold dark sea, drifting in an endless t-tide of you
Drowning

If I p-push down into the shaded world that lies b-beneath
I c-can see the shoals of fish, t-tipping their scales
At me
